Early Life and Education
Dharam Singh Deol was Dharmendra’s first name. On December 8, 1935, he was born into a Jat Sikh household in Phagwara, Kapurthala district, Punjab, India, to Satwant Kaur and Kewal Kishan Singh Deol. He attended Government Senior Secondary School at Lalton Kalan, Ludhiana, after growing up in the village of Sahnewal. He completed his intermediate education at Phagwara’s Ramgarhia College.

At the age of 19, Dharmendra wed Prakash Kaur. They have two daughters, Vijeta and Ajeeta, and two boys, Sunny and Bobby Deol. Esha and Ahana Deol are his two daughters from his later marriage to actress Hema Malini. Abhay Deol, his nephew, is an actor as well. despite having family connections in the film industry.
Dharmendra Movie Career
He made his debut in Arjun Hingorani’s Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960). He achieved solo hero popularity with the blockbuster Phool Aur Patthar (1966), his first action picture, but he became an established action hero with the 1971 film Mera Gaon Mera Desh. He portrayed himself as a romantic hero in films such as Pyar Hi Pyar, Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Mere Humdum Mere Dost, and Aaye Din Bahar Ke. He established his reputation as an action hero with hit films such as Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Raja Jani (1972), Jugnu (1973), Kahani Kismat Ki, and Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973). Later Career and Comeback
Following a short break, Dharmendra made a comeback to the big screen with roles in Life in a… For the first time, he starred with his sons in Metro and Apne (2007). He also demonstrated his versatility as an actor by playing a sinister part in Johnny Gaddaar. He made a lasting impression on regional cinema in addition to Hindi cinema by acting in a number of Punjabi productions.

Dharmendra dabbled in politics in addition to movies. He represented Rajasthan’s Bikaner constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha. Awards
