Tripathi was acquired by Rising Pune Supergiant for INR 10 lakh prior to the 2017 season. On March 9, 2017, he made his IPL debut at the MCA International Stadium in Pune against the Delhi Daredevils. As his team lost badly, he scored 10 runs off of 5 balls.
