Ranbir Raj Kapoor was born as the eldest of four children to Prithviraj Kapoor, a well-known stage and cinema actor, and his wife, Mrs. Ramsarni (Rama) Devi, née Mehra. His younger brothers are actors Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. He also has a sister named Urmila Sial.

Kapoor married Krishna Malhotra of Jabalpur in a customary arranged marriage when he was twenty-two years old in 1946. Her brothers, Premnath and Rajindernath, were also actors. Raj and Krishna gave birth to their first son Randhir Kapoor the next year, and their eldest daughter Ritu in 1948. Their second son, Rishi Kapoor, was born in 1952, while their second daughter, Reema, was born in 1956. Their youngest son, Rajiv Kapoor, was born in 1962. Raj Kapoor’s career

Raj Kapoor began his acting career at the age of ten. He made his Bollywood debut with the film Inquilab. Kapoor quickly established himself as a good performer. In 1948, he established his own studio, R.K. pictures, and began directing films at a young age.

After launching R.K. Films, he began directing as well as acting. This studio released the films Awaara in 1951, Shree 420 in 1955, Jagte Raho in 1956, and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai in 1960, which were all highly popular.

Kapoor and other producers produced popular films such as Dastan (1950), Anhonee (1952), Aah (1953), Chori Chori (1956), Anari (1959), Chhalia (1960), and Dil Hi To Hai (1963). Kapoor debuted Randhir Kapoor in 1971 with Kal Aaj Aur Kal. In 1973, he and Bobby launched their second son, Rishi Kapoor. Kapoor continued to perform minor roles in films after 1970.
