Raj Kapoor

Raj Kapoor is known as the showman of Indian cinema. He has given many wonderful films in his career as an actor, director and producer. He also built a studio for the film. Many good actors have come to the Bollywood industry from Kapoor’s children. He also received awards for the films he made during his lifetime. The Government of India has honored him with the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Raj Kapoor’s Early Life

The Kapoor family is from Samundri, near Lyallpur in present-day Pakistan. Raj was born on December 14, 1924, in Peshawar, North West Frontier Province, Pakistan. Ranbir Raj Kapoor was born as the eldest of four children to Prithviraj Kapoor, a well-known stage and cinema actor, and his wife, Mrs. Ramsarni (Rama) Devi, née Mehra. His younger brothers are actors Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. He also has a sister named Urmila Sial.

Kapoor married Krishna Malhotra of Jabalpur in a customary arranged marriage when he was twenty-two years old in 1946. Her brothers, Premnath and Rajindernath, were also actors. Raj and Krishna gave birth to their first son Randhir Kapoor the next year, and their eldest daughter Ritu in 1948. Their second son, Rishi Kapoor, was born in 1952, while their second daughter, Reema, was born in 1956. Their youngest son, Rajiv Kapoor, was born in 1962. Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor are all involved in the Hindi cinema business as actors, directors, or producers.

Raj Kapoor’s career

Raj Kapoor began his acting career at the age of ten. He made his Bollywood debut with the film Inquilab. Kapoor quickly established himself as a good performer. In 1948, he established his own studio, R.K. pictures, and began directing films at a young age.

After launching R.K. Films, he began directing as well as acting. This studio released the films Awaara in 1951, Shree 420 in 1955, Jagte Raho in 1956, and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai in 1960, which were all highly popular.

Kapoor and other producers produced popular films such as Dastan (1950), Anhonee (1952), Aah (1953), Chori Chori (1956), Anari (1959), Chhalia (1960), and Dil Hi To Hai (1963). Kapoor debuted Randhir Kapoor in 1971 with Kal Aaj Aur Kal. In 1973, he and Bobby launched their second son, Rishi Kapoor. Kapoor continued to perform minor roles in films after 1970.

Raj Kapoor and Nargis Dutt

Raj Kapoor & Nargis Dutt. Their love tale was legendary back then. They appeared together in not one, not two, but 18 films. They had boundless love for one another. But Kapoor was already married. They also have children. As a result, their relationship deteriorated somewhat. Nargis eventually married a hero named Sunil Dutt. Nargis did not work with Kapoor in any films after their marriage. Nargis was unable to attend the functions they had scheduled.

Death

Raj Kapoor suffered from asthma in his last days. Kapoor collapsed after accepting the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He died in 1988, aged 63, after a month of hospital treatment.
