Nitin Nabin was born in Patna, Bihar, on May 23, 1980. His father was a seasoned BJP leader and Patna West MLA, Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha. Meera Sinha was Nitin’s mother. He is wed to State Bank of India management Dr. Deepmala Shrivastava.
From an early age, Nitin was involved with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), carrying on his father’s political legacy. He had been BJYM’s Bihar State President and National General Secretary.
Nitin Nabin’s father, sitting MLA Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, passed away in 2006, prompting a byelection for the Patna West Assembly constituency. Nitin was the BJP’s party candidate, and he easily won the election. During his four terms as Patna West’s representative, his father won every election in 1995, 2000, and two in 2005.
From February 2021 to August 2022, he was the Minister of Road Construction. In February 2025, he objected to receiving the portfolio. From March 2024 to February 2025, he also held the positions of Minister of Law & Justice and Minister of Urban Development & Housing. He was appointed minister of road construction, urban development, and housing in the recently established Nitish Kumar administration.
His selection as National Working President highlights his background in alliance management, party organization, and governance, putting him in a position to supervise daily national operations with BJP President JP Nadda.
The BJP has carried on the custom of revealing surprises when announcing appointments to important positions with the nomination of Nitin Nabin as working president. As usual, the party also succeeded in keeping the decision a secret prior to the formal announcement.
